22 FREE WEBSITES TO SUBMIT TO PLAYLISTS

Pitching to playlists has become an essential part of a musicians promotion :
a good streaming placement leads an artist to better exposition, more followers, more revenues and better chances to being placed to bigger and bigger playlists on future releases, ultimately leading to bigger opportunities, and so on...

Don't underestimate this part of your promotion campaign, and give it the time from day 1 of your song release.

But... know that a lot of so-called curators out there ask for a "small fee" to be featured in their playlists (from a few $$ to a hundred, depending on the number of weeks they'll leave your song).

Must-Read: How much does a PR campaign cost?

Beware of scams and don't be fooled!

If you are ok paying, at least check:
- if the playlist has a good amount of followers
- also the artists featured: are they in the same music genre as your song? do they have a lot of follower / listeners (see if the playlists they pay for actually bring them more listeners).

Also, all the playlists curators request that you follow their playlists, so all the bands submitting represent a large amount of their followers.

My strategy: Given the odds of being placed in a good playlist, I prefer to not spend money to get featured on playlists, I submit to all those websites, and also send emails to legit music curators from renowned blogs (Alternative Press, Spin, Rolling Stone..) and editorial playlists.

Yes, it's time consuming, especially after you ran your DIY campaign to plug your music to radio station, answered emails, conducted interviews for blogs, recorded live acoustic sessions for a couple of podcasts and recorded some liners for a dozen radio stations, posted everyday on all your socials, engaged with your fans, etc etc etc..
